Virtual Rural Health Careers Sessions
The New Zealand Rural General Practice Network in partnership with Students of Rural Health Aotearoa (SoRHA) are hosting virtual Rural Health Careers Sessions this November.
These virtual sessions will replace our usual in-person rural health careers presentations as part of our Rural School Visits, which have been postponed until next year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Our new 45-minute virtual presentations will provide information for year 11-13 students on studying towards a career in rural health.
The presentations will be hosted by nursing, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and physiotherapy students who will share their own experiences and give insight into what it’s like to study health at a tertiary level.
There will also be a Q&A session for students to engage with current tertiary health students and ask them questions.

COVID-19 Vaccine Webinar
In addition to these rural health careers sessions, we are also hosting a short webinar about the COVID-19 vaccine. This webinar will also be hosted by SoRHA tertiary students and will aim to inform rural Rangatahi on why vaccination is important to protect our population, how the vaccine works, how vaccine safety is monitored and answer any further questions that may arise from our discussion.

Recordings available
Both the Rural Health Careers sessions and the COVID-19 Vaccine Webinar will be recorded so that students are able to view them later if unable to attend them live. Please let us know if you would like access to a copy of the recorded sessions.
