Welcome Back to Term 2 in the Teina Whanau!
We have had a wonderful start back to school after the holidays. Our awesome Teina children have come back settled ready to learn as we have launched into our new Inquiry about the Living World.
Camp Merc - Camp 1 next week! (Year 4's Rooms: 8,16, 18 & 21)
We are so excited for our campers from Room's 8, 16, 18 and 21 to attend Camp Merc from Wednesday to Friday next week. This is such an incredible opportunity for growth and resilience, and for your child to have the chance to be able to manage themselves and their belongings independently.
The Camp Merc staff came and visited our camp kids this week and talked about some of the experiences they will take part in next week.
Please make sure you and your child have checked the packing list that was sent out this week, and that your child is part of the packing process so they know what they have and where to find it. Final camp communication will be sent out early next week.
- REMINDER: Please remember that you need to organise your own childrens transport to and from Camp MERC. If you require assistance with getting your child to or from Camp, please email Hayley Brass on h.brass@ghs.school.nz or Jacki Harrison on j.harrison@ghs.school.nz for assistance.
We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!
Today your child will have come home with a notice with information about our upcoming trip to the Auckland Zoo. The children are so excited for this awesome opportunity to bus to the zoo and explore and learn about the animals and their habitats. This is such a wonderful experience to compliment the learning we are doing this term around animals, habitats and adaptations.
We are aware that this has been an expensive term for our Year 4 students with camp also being this term, however this is the only school trip the children will be taking this year and we really feel that the children will benefit hugely from this experience.
Permission slips and payment of $35 is due by Friday 19th May.
Thank you for your support in helping us provide rich learning experiences for your children, it is much appreciated. Please contact Hayley Brass at h.brass@school.nz if you have any questions.
Learning to be Scientists!
This term we have been learning to be scientists and discover things about our living world. Some classes have enjoyed venturing outside to find out what animals and habitats we have living in our own backyard. The children have been sorting animals based on different characteristics and features and we are learning about why different animals are better suited to different habitats.
Shout Out Winners
A HUGE congratulations to this weeks shout out winners. Well done for displaying our school values and being role models to your peers. Miss Brass loves getting to spend time with these kids to congratulate and reward them with a special treat. Keep up the good work!
