Celebrating Purapura's return to GHS!

Trish OconnellFebruary 12, 2025

Wow, what an amazing start to 2025! Our Purapura tamariki have all shown incredible dedication and hard work already.

Welcome to all our new Purapura tamariki!

Welcome to our new students who have joined us this year, either to start their schooling or as new students. We’re so excited to have you with us, thank you for choosing Gulf Harbour School.

Zones of Regulation

To help start our year on a positive note we have been and are currently revising/unpacking Zones of Regulation, a program designed to help children understand and manage their emotions. The four zones—blue, green, yellow, and red—represent different feelings and levels of alertness. By learning to identify which zone they're in, children can practice strategies to regulate their emotions, whether it’s calming down in the blue zone or getting focused in the green zone. It’s an effective way for everyone to grow in emotional awareness and self-control!

Settling into 2025 classes

Building strong relationships with teachers is a key part of our learning journey this year. We’re focused on creating a positive, supportive classroom where everyone feels comfortable and respected. As we settle into our learning routines, students will have opportunities to connect with teachers, ask questions, and share ideas. These relationships help create a space where students feel confident and excited to learn, knowing they have support every step of the way.

Showcasing student work

Showcasing student work is a wonderful way to celebrate accomplishments and creativity! Keep an eye out each newsletter for photos of the incredible work our learners are doing. It’s a great way to boost confidence, inspire others, and acknowledge the effort put into learning. Every piece of work shared is a reminder of how far each student has come and how much they continue to grow!

HERO Updates

Just a quick reminder to check HERO for upcoming events! We’ve got some exciting activities and important dates coming up, and HERO is the best way to stay updated. Be sure to check in regularly to stay in the loop and make sure you don’t miss out on any fun or important events happening soon!

People Who Help

Later this term we will be looking at people who help us in our community. If you or someone you know fits this description or works with the community please email t.oconnell@ghs.school.nz

Have a lovely weekend!
