Teina Getting Out and About!

It's been another incredibly busy and exciting few weeks here with our Teina Whanau. Not only have we been preparing for and being very successful with our recent Athletics Event, but we've also been preparing for our fabulous Okoromai Event and enjoying all our usual in-class learning along the way!
Athletics a Storming Success!
What a day that was! The weather was simply perfect, the athletes were well-prepped and performed admirably, and the event went off with a bang (or should that be a clapper?).
We were all very impressed with how the Teina students approached the event - it was the best turn-out we've ever had, with students willing to give it a go, and suport each other, no matter what the event! Well done to those who won or placed high up, and well done to everybody on a great day!
Thank you so much to the many, many parents who not only attended, but also shot down the water slide, and took part as helpers throughout the day - wonderful!
Specialist Learning is Thriving
A big shout out to the Specialist Teachers who are doing a fantastic job to ensure that our Teina students are receiving that bit extra from week-to-week. Luke Wesbonk (Drama), Kelly Henton (Sport/PE), Isobel Neville (Dance) and Ruth Trevathan (Science and STEM) have been inspiring our young hopefuls to learn and thrive within these disciplines.
Maths Coming to Life
Gulf Harbour School welcomed in many teachers and principals from schools further afield on Wednesday to witness our teaching of our Maths 'Numicon' Porgramme. As you may be aware, this approach is very hands-on and really supports the chidren seeing 'beyond' the numbers. Those who observed were full of praise of the teaching and learning taking place!
MERC Information Evening
We are so excited for the Year 4 MERC Camp coming up on June 11th-13th. I'm aware there have been a few questions and queries, and with that in mind, there will be a Parent Information Evening taking place at 7pm on Tuesday, 17th April. This will be online meeting - details of which will be shared on Hero nearer the time.
