Marc Swain-Rogatski —

Kia ora!

My name is Marc. I am a new teacher at Hagley this year. I am from Christchurch. I grew up in Shirley and now live in Ilam. In my free time I like watching sports, movies, reading and spending time with my wife and dog.

I have been helping people learn English since I was a teenager and have worked at different places including HALC. Other jobs I have had are at a bookshop, a retail manager and a librarian.

After getting a BA in English and MA in TESOL from the University of Canterbury, I studied a teaching degree last year at Victoria University. I did my teaching practice at Christchurch schools and really enjoyed the experience. I was lucky to get a job at Hagley College starting this year.

I feel very lucky and honoured to work at Hagley. What I like most about my job is being able to meet people from many different countries, learn about different cultures and make new friends, while teaching English that will help people’s lives. Teachers at Hagley are all very caring and I hope to be as supportive and helpful to all the students in my classes.
