Impact Project:

Nathan Walsh —

This year, students in Year 13 Impact Project have been working on a passion project of their choice.

Students use their skills from another subject they study at Hagley College to conduct a major project over the year. Most projects are making a positive contribution to local communities. There have been some incredible projects where students have thought critically to solve problems, developed project management and research skills, interacted with stakeholders and created a concise brief before creating their project. This year project examples include Kieran’s computational thinking computer game for junior students, Leah’s mural for her local primary school, Anthony’s website for international students, Christian’s website to raise awareness of Philippine Culture and Migrant Services, and Jakib’s album to raise awareness for teenage mental health. The images below show Heather’s almost completed street art project. Heather wanted to reduce the graffiti in a warehouse complex and provide visual landscaping for an unattractive area of the city. Her 18 metre long painting is a truly fantastic achievement!
