Visit to the Art Gallery

The Learning Communities Team —

Students from EPA English class visited the Christchurch Art Gallery in June. It was an unusually warm winter day and we enjoyed the walk down to the Art Gallery.

We visited the museum to look at the temporary artwork and wrote a response for English Language NCEA Level 3. The students enjoyed each room that we visited and were quickly able to evaluate which room they related to best. After returning to school they explored other pieces of temporary art and watched videos about sand art in the Buddhist religion as well as the local artist who creates works of art in New Brighton on the beach. The museum staff were very welcoming and helpful. They answered students' questions and took the time to tell us interesting facts about the art or artist.
