HAVING FUN TOGETHER IN CLASS

Robyn Peterson —

Listening to our classes from the HALC office, I hear lots of laughter and I just love that.

Our classes are relaxed and fun, learning together. Here are some things that the classes have been working on recently:

The Developing Literacy class go outside to exercise after the first hour in class – they walk down the grass to the flax bushes and do stretching exercises as they go. There are lots of giggles. Movement is very good for the brain and the body, and laughter is good for the soul.

The Elementary class put a lot of time and energy into learning about the political system in New Zealand. They invited a guest speaker to come talk to the class, to give them a better understanding of who was standing for election. More laughter here as they challenged others to match political party to names of the leaders.

The Pre-Intermediate class decided to send support to the Prime Minister, so they took a photo of their class, and sent it along with a card to Jacinda, and were thrilled to get a reply!

The Beginner Plus class at Wigram have recently been on a class outing to Terra Viva nursery. They have been learning about fruits and vegetables for their gardens and enjoyed a coffee while they were there.

Our Upper Riccarton Beginner class are planning to go to a Chinese restaurant together to finish the year on a happy note. I wonder if they will order their food in English!
