Using Hagley Banners to Make Bags

Mary Delfin - School of Fashion —

One of the first projects in the School of Fashion 2021 was to use the discontinued Hagley banners to make a utility bag.

We were given a pile of banners from Leoni and we were given total freedom to come up with bag design; the only requirement was to add 3 pockets and 3 zips.

Everyone did something different and everyone did so well. On my design, as a person who carries/brings lots of things anywhere, especially when I go and play sports, I thought about making a duffel bag. Making the duffel bag was extremely challenging for me because of how big it was, the fabric we were using (the banners), and the round parts on my bag. After making it, I have learned many things; it also helps with the environment which made me even more interested in making it. I am looking forward to making more bags like these in the future - big thanks to Vicki!
