Year 11 and Senior Prize Giving

The last two weeks have seen two key school events take place.

The first was the Year 11 Pō Whakanui and Prize Giving on Thursday 1st November. It was fantastic to see a large number of students cross the stage in recognition of consistent effort and engagement in their classes. Special mention to Michael Pascoe who received the Tuakana Taina Award for the student in Year 11 who embodies the school values of trust, respect, integrity and personal responsibility. Also a big congratulations to Liadan Dickie who was awarded the Year 11 Academic Excellence Award for 2018.

Elvis Nicolls was the Cultural Award winner and Rhiannon Williams the Bicultural Award winner. Charlotte James was awarded the Year 11 Contribution to the College Award.


The second event was the Senior Prize Giving held on Tuesday 6th November. This was a wonderful showcase of student achievement, talent, attitude and perseverance. Congratulations to our special award winners:

  • Edwin Carr Music Composition Scholarship – Rongomai Callaghan
  • Westonian Scholarship – Elia Gibbons
  • Bickerton-Widdowson Scholarships – Sophia Paterson, Stella Sutherland, Flynn Watson, and Kristiana-Anne Wright 
  • Tuakana Taina Year 12 – Jaspah McNulty
  • Tuakana Taina Year 13 – Liz Marneros
  • Adult Academic Excellence – Jamie Fairless
  • Year 12 Academic Excellence – Ethan Bushby
  • Year 13 Dux – Ben McConway
