Welcome to Thi Phan

Sarah Denny —

Welcome to Thi Phan our new Diversity Support Manager who has joined our Learning Communities team this term.

Thi is a refugee from Vietnam and has been in New Zealand for three years. Thi has worked in 20 overseas countries for the United Nations and is well known for her dedication to community development. Over the last decade, she has strived to enhance the socio- economic growth of developing countries and has a passion for empowering disadvantaged people, in particular refugee women. At the 2016 Refugee Forum she spoke on Opportunities and Barriers for Women to Achieve Self Sufficiency. You can listen to her on the link Plains FM!

Thi’s linguistic repertoire includes Vietnamese, French, Russian, English and, more recently, Te Reo Maaori. While she remains connected to all of Otautahi, she is looking forward to growing Hagley’s cultural diversity and extending the role Hagley has in the community as a regional hub. When Thi is not at work, she loves playing her ukulele and participating in the wide range of outdoor activities Otautahi offers. We are thrilled to welcome Thi to Hagley and look forward to her furthering the great work of Mastura Abd Rahman.
