Ki O Rahi Tournament

Dawn Papuni —

We as a kura were grateful to represent Te Puna Wai O Waipapa at the Hillmorton High Ki O Rahi tournament, held on Friday April 5th.

Kia ora Te Puna Wai O Wai Papa whānau

It was a cold and rainy day, but the team was still keen to keep on playing, no matter what the conditions were. We played three games for 1 win and 2 very close losses. We all had our moments of frustration and stress, but definitely still had a smile on our faces and displayed our core values of Mana, Tika, Whakamarumaru, and Whakawhirinaki throughout the event.

Our highlight of the tournament was our last game against Te Paa, where we ran out eventual winners with a score of 25-5. As team captain, I was very proud to be involved with a group of positive and dedicated players who did not give up until the final whistle. Congratulations to all players that were involved. Also a big mihi to our coach Chris and to Molly who drove and supported us.
