This month, students in 9BT had the opportunity to present work from their Maths class to students from our own Hagley Preschool.

Using time in their Maths class, students worked alone or in groups to create children’s books which taught a concept from the Geometry unit they were studying. After several weeks of drafting and work, we invited a group of preschool students and their kaimahi to join us in our room so that students could read their stories to the children. The visit provided students with a firm deadline, giving them the incentive they needed to produce some really beautiful work, and the children from the preschool had a great opportunity to meet older students and visit a ‘big school’ classroom.
