Artwork Brings a Smile to Hagley Preschool

Jocelyn Wright —

Following the March 15th attack the Preschool received many expressions of support and offers of help and donations to support whānau in the Preschool community.

One of the donations was a very large artwork, which is now proudly displayed in the Preschool. The artwork is a special piece of art with a message about holding our heads high at this difficult time. It was painted by Aidan Walbaekken, a street artist from Wellington, live on the What Now TV show on the weekend following the attack on the Mosques. Through the imagery, it encapsulates messages of strength, being Kiwi, and being connected to family/whānau and loved ones. The presentation of the artwork was filmed by the What Now team on Wednesday 17th April, much to the excitement of many at the Preschool, and was later featured on the TV programme.
