Make Term 3 your NCEA 'moving day'!

Mike Fowler —

What does "moving day" mean? It's an expression golfers use to mean the day before the final round of a professional golf tournament.

If a golfer hopes to win the tournament in the final round, then in Round 3 [or day 3], they'd better get moving up the leaderboard to set themselves up for success on the final day.

So, if we thought of the school year as a golf tournament, we’re at the start of day 3, or term 3. I want you to think about term 3 as your NCEA 'moving day'. That’s the term you set yourself for success not just for term 4, but for the year.

How can you do that? By talking with key people, like your tutor and your teachers. If you're not sure about that deadline, or what’s expected for a piece of work that's due, ask your teacher early – they will respect you for that and guide you. The alternative is holding off, and that's never a good option. It's always better to get onto things early. That's a much better way than just leaving things, then saying to a teacher the day a piece of work is due, "Help! I don’t know what to do."
