The Cycle of Improvement at Hagley

Marie Stribling —

There is an expectation, both from external agencies, such as ERO, and from within Hagley, that, as a school, we are working on a cycle of continuous improvement.

As part of this cycle of improvement, all teachers look at an area of their practice or their way of teaching a topic with a view to bringing about better outcomes or results for students in a particular area or topic.

Additionally, this year, for the first time, team leaders have been working on a leadership inquiry. This means that leaders identified an aspect of teaching where their group of teachers might need further support and developed a programme of professional development for their teachers with the intention of bringing about better outcomes for students.

Leaders have been mentored through this process with a view to helping them improve their instructional leadership capacity.
