Hagley Community Preschool

Bee Williamson —

Our new preschool is so close to being ready.

The inside is nearly all finished and the landscaping on the outside is taking shape. We are excited to see the transformation from bare ground to an inviting natural learning environment.

Concreting poured for the new bike track

This month we had a special ceremony - Kaumatua from te rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu conducted a whakawātea (blessing) of our new building. About 40 people arrived very early on a wet and cold morning making the most of the shelter from our large verandah before getting a sneak preview of the new preschool environment.

If you are in the preschool at Simpson house you will see that we have some pictures on the wall of what we would like the new preschool to look like. We also have a board of photos that show the progress of the build.

In March the preschool had an amazing whānau fun day at the Halswell Domain. We caught the bus from preschool, had a picnic lunch together then went for a ride on the miniaturetrains. It was a lot of fun. The trains are open on Sunday from 1pm-4pm it is a great place to take your family for a day out.

You can see photo’s of our whānau fun day and progress of our building on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/hagleypreschool
