Nowruz – Iranian New Year

the Learning Communities Team —

All our best wishes to classmates and friends from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, for their New Year festival called as Nowruz, on 21 March.

People in those countries have celebrated the holiday for over 3,000 years. The day of 21 March marks the first day of the first month in the Iranian solar calendar. Nowruz is one of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity, and is a public holiday in many countries, including Canada (since 2009).

On that day, families gather around the table with the Haft Seen set on it and wait for the exact moment where New Year begins to start the celebration with rituals observance and gift exchange.

We wish all our students from those countries a wonderful year ahead!
