Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards

Nathan Walsh —

During Week 8 of Term 4, 13 Year 9 and 10 students from Kete Wana class "Do the Duke" will attend a 3-day tramp.

This Adventurous Journey tramp is a key part of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards. Students will walk to the Woolshed Creek Hut near Mt Somers and those working toward their Silver Award will ascend the summit. All students will be expected to be fully self-sufficient, carrying their own food and tents on the journey. Behaving as ambassadors of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, learning basic leadership skills, and developing an understanding of environmental impacts are key aims of the journey. The Adventurous Journey is one of four key elements of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The other three requirements are: learn a new skill, become physically active, and volunteer in the community.

We wish all the students and staff a very successful Adventurous Journey.
