Term 4 has been busy and full of learning, fun and celebrating success. Hagley College Senior Prizegiving evening was on the 12th November. At this event many of our students won special prizes.

Zigba Yismaw won the Tutor Award for her Year 13 Tutor class.

Fatuma Osman won the Academic Award for the 11ELC class.

Fentahun Yismaw won the Abdul Rahman Ikhtiari Award for 2020. We wish him the best of luck as he continues his studies at ARA in 2021.

At the Term 3 Sports Awards Day, Zigba Yismaw also received an award for her Badminton achievements in 2020. Zigba was a key member of the badminton team this year.
This term we held an Athletics’ Day at Hansen’s Park on 20 November. Well done to all the award winners in running, throwing and jumping events.

It was a fun day out of the classroom and everyone’s positive attitude added to the spirit of the day! We tye-died colourful t-shirts for Athletics’ Day as part of our studies in class. We had to read the directions and then later we wrote about the procedure of tye dying!

In November we visited Tūranga library in the city to tour the facility and find out what they have on offer for the summer months. We had two excellent tour guides who welcomed us to the library.

The 11ELL class worked with the Leadership Lab class this year. We had several classes together this year focusing on well-being, speaking, listening and making connections. We hope to continue this project in 2021.
