What a great start to 2018 - tino pai!

Mike Fowler —

In our first few weeks, there are several things that have made Hagley such a vibrant place to be part of.

We've welcomed 13 new teachers to Hagley - what an energetic group of educators who are already making a positive impact. Along with our new Year 11 students, new staff were welcomed  at the first mihi whakatau to start the year.  A first for us was that our returning students at this level formed part of the tangata whenua to welcome our manuhiri. New students joining us at other levels of the school were also warmly welcomed at several other mihi too. Our new Year 9 students have settled in and quickly made Hagley their place.

The Year 13 leadership camp was another first for us and it's initiated what I'm sure will be an annual event - thanks to our Well-being Team and our students for making it the success that it was. There's an article about the camp in this newsletter.

Planning for our redevelopment is about to get underway too, with Stephenson and Turner confirmed as our master planners. Hagley will undergo a 17 million dollar redevelopment  over the next three years. What sort of change will there be? Good change! Much of our great school will stay as we know it. There'll also be some exciting new developments too, as what's set out in our Education Brief becomes a reality.  In the meantime, I'd encourage you to look over the Brief to see what's round the corner. I'll keep you updated on progress during the year.

Ngā mihi nui kia koutou
