Flexibility and 'Hagley' are words that go hand in hand. When asked why students chose to come to Hagley in Years 12 and 13, many give 'flexibility' as the reason.

Ngāi Tahu has decided they would like to offer the school naming options that are directly linked and pay homage to the school name; Te Puna Wai o Waipapa and the significance of the whenua [the land] where Hagley sits.
