Cindy Frew - Tourism Teacher

Cindy Frew is Hagley’s new Tourism teacher, although ‘new’ probably isn’t the right word. Cindy’s links with Hagley go back to 2009 when she came here as a student teacher, followed by day-relieving in various departments and teaching English Language Learning.

Hagley’s Quest for Continuous Improvement

For the last five years all teachers at Hagley have completed an inquiry into an aspect of their teaching. This ‘Teaching as Inquiry’ model is based on much research and was introduced into the NZ curriculum in 2007. The Education Review Office (ERO) recommends that all schools make “teaching as inquiry a useful and integral part of everyday teaching practice” (ERO, 2011).

The School of Music

Diversity and Inclusiveness @ Hagley

This year, Hagley has been leading  professional learning for teachers in the Christchurch Central City Learning Community Cluster, exploring how we can address diversity and inclusiveness in our work. 200 teachers from a range of schools are attending workshops on 13 April at Hagley, led by a  strong group of presenters.
