Did you know Hail includes free Text Notifications?

Its super easy to set up and keep your readers informed on your latest news by using Hail and Twitter. This article explains how to set up free text notifications.

To set up Text Notifications in Hail you need to create a Twitter Account.  If you already have a Twitter Account then skip the first section.  

Step 1. Setting up Twitter:

  • Go to Twitter and sign up
  • Create your profile (our profile is @HailSays )  
  • Remember your Twitter profile and password as we'll use these in Step 2.

Step 2. Connect your Twitter profile to Hail:

  • Log in to Hail in the role of Owner, Admin or Publisher 
  • Go to Settings (under your logo, top right) and add your Twitter profile. This will add your twitter details to your publications and articles
  • Next head over to Connections and click on the Plus to connect Hail to Twitter. You'll need to remember your password to complete the connection.

All done, you're ready to send text notification out!

Step 3.

Create a Hail article and ask your readers to sign up for text notifications. 

What you need to tell them is:

To set up Text Alerts:

Grab your mobile phone on the 2Degrees or Spark/Telecom network.

  • Send a text to this number 8987
  • The message type: follow @yourtwitterprofile

All done and you'll now start receiving text messages.

To stop Text Alerts:

  • Send a text to this number 8987
  • In the message type: OFF @yourtwitterprofile

Here is an example of an article.

Step 4.

To send a Text Notification is exactly the same process you follow to share images, videos, articles and publications.

 When you’re ready to publish click on Twitter and you will share your news to Twitter and everyone who has signed up will receive a text message.

Of course, any Admin or Publisher can now send your readers a text notification.
