New Hail Feature: Stats 📊

Once again, you voted with your feedback and one request we've heard again and again is...

"Is it possible to get some sort of stats from Hail articles and publications that aren’t sent using Mailchimp? ie. when they’re published on our website or Facebook page?"

Until now we've only offered Google Analytics integration, but the setup and reporting are very technical so we were motivated to create a much simpler overview right in Hail. And that's exactly what we've done with this initial Stats release.

How does it work?

From today you'll find a new item on the Dashboard displaying the top article over the last 30 days and its number of views.

Clicking on that will take you to the new stats overview showing the most recent articles and their number of views. You'll also find recent publications and their view counts. Both sections can be expanded to show more and toggled to show the most viewed articles and publications for all time.

Each article has icons next to its date indicating if it's added to a Hail Homepage, which publication(s) it's included in and which connections it's been published to: such as Facebook, Twitter and MailChimp.

Publications are also listed with their relevant icons. That makes it possible to check how well those various channels are contributing to the views.

Important notes

• Stats can take up to 24 hours to update in the overview.
• Article stats include views within any publications, the homepage and opens from social media and email etc.
• Views are 'unique' so we only count each view once for each reader in each session. So even if an individual opens a Newsletter and reads by jumping back and forth from the article blocks into articles multiple times it'll only count as one view for the publication and one view for each article that's read. This way you can be sure your stats aren't inflated.
• So far we have collected stats for this last month. So numbers for the 'Most Viewed' and 'Last Year' will grow from this point.
