Term 4 has been a busy time for Room 4...

Term 4 has been a busy time for Room 4 starting with a guide through Maori instruments by Jerome Kavanagh on the 15th of October and pottery with Joy, a sculptor, from the 16th till the 18th then Stewart Island Ambassadors with Balclutha school on the 24th. Then the dental nurses came between the 30th and the 1st and we all got check-ups. There was a Halloween party at school on the 31st and everyone was dressed up great. Southern Zone soccer was on the 1st and The Year 7&8s got first!

On November 4th Steven from Otago Uni told us all about light, how it works, the different colours and what’s good for us.

Student teachers were with all the classes in between October and November. On the 5th the Year 7s got their eyesight tested. Then Room 4 went on a camp to do the Greenstone tramp close to Glenorchy and after that, it was the last week of VLN, then on the 14th we had our Bush School sleepover.

Kevin from DOC came to talk to us about mouse surveillance and what to check, on the 22nd we got to clean up Bathing Beach and on the 28th we did Rocky Shore Stewart Island Ambassadors with Longbeach school, on the 3rd of December Zac and Molly did rat trap checks on Ulva Island, on the 4th we did Stewart Island Ambassadors with Fairfield School, on the 12th the Year 8’s did Stewart Island Ambassadors with Drummond School and had a soccer game afterwards, they won 11-6.

Mary came for music on the 13th and is going to be here till the end of the school year. We had our last Kiwi can on the 13th and we had an island-themed performance for the senior citizens on Stewart Island. Stewart Bull came to talk with us about the Muttonbird Islands, and we are looking forward to a prizegiving with plenty of prizes to go around.
