Emily —

We have had such a busy term! Here's the rundown…

Digi Tech has been so awesome! We have been learning simple coding in Scratch. We have made our names and a Pong Game. Those who finish early have been teaching others what to do. We even taught Miss Joy how to make a cool name! We know our logins and passwords if you would like us to show you our work at home.

In art with the amazing Bevano we have been learning pointillism. Pointillism is applying small strokes or dots of colour to a surface so that from a distance they visually blend together. It has been lots of fun!

We have been working hard on our Social Sciences Fair and Science Fair projects. Well done to everyone for the effort and a big congratulations to those that won a prize! A shout out to the Year 4 boys who walked away with 3 PRIZES!

We demonstrated our kura PART values in golf this term. We learnt a new sport and enjoyed the cool golf challenges that we had to complete! We will be heading up to Ringa Ringa next term when the weather is better to practice these skills.

Kiwi Can is always a choice time. This term the focus has been on ‘Resilience’. We have had to demonstrate this in the challenges. In one challenge we were all knotted together in a group and we had to untangle as fast as we could. It was so hard!

Speeches were at the start of term. A few of us had funny tummies but we all stood up and spoke the best we could! Well done to Ellie who made it through to the zones.

Conservation week was a good time! We wrote conservation stories for a competition that DOC ran. Well done to Josh for his highly commended, Sam 2nd place and Meadow 1st place in our class.  We helped with a working bee at Butterfields where we did some planting and a beach clean-up. We also went and did some track maintenance! It was AWESOME using the leaf blower!

Mary the magnificent came for a week and did music with our whole class. Everyone got the chance to learn some guitar. We felt proud to be able to show everyone our skills at the end-of-week mini-concert. Thank you all for coming.

Finally, we finished off with a Bush School Master Chef! There were some epic creations. It was boys versus girls. The boys cooked yabbies wrapped in bacon, cray tails, venison, potato chips and a side salad. The girls cooked Pāua, blue cod, potato chips, and salad and made a side drink of milo. It was all so delicious! The judges couldn't even decide so it ended up being a tie!

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us this term with town trips or activities to help us with our learning. We appreciate it so much.

From all of us in Rakeahua, have a FANTASTIC holiday and we will see you next term with bells on.
