Chop Suey
A traditional Pacific Island dish.
Ingredients:
You will need:
Vermicelli (1 pkt)
NZ lean beef (800 grams)
Soy sauce (4 Tablespoons)
A big pot (to hold at least 12 cups of water)
A mixing tool (wooden spoon)
Salt (2tsp)
Olive oil (2tsp)
Hot water (approx 12 cups)
A stove (to cook it on)
Let's get cracking in to it!
The first thing that you want to do is get your big pot and add about 8 cups of hot water ( but be careful and ask an adult to help you ). Turn on the heat and once the water is boiling you add all of the vermicelli.
While it is cooking away you want to get your NZ beef and then cut it into smaller sized squares.
After that you put that aside and then let's get back to the vermicelli.
After it is cooked through strain as much water as you want (well actually it depends about how much juice you want in your chop suey so really up to you.
Next get your meat and fry it in a pan with the oil, soy sauce and salt (but just a pinch). After you have fried all the meat then add the soy sauce and just a little bit more salt. Next mix everything in until you get something looking like noodles with meat.
If you would like to cook rice it's optional (but it does taste better)
