Exciting changes to Tuckshop

We have lots of exciting things happening in the school tuck shop this term. Check out our new winter menu items, including hot noodles, hash browns and pizza breads. You can now order your tuck shop order through an app. Just search for Kindo in the app store, log into your account and get ordering.

We are also urgently in need of tuck shop volunteers, so if you can spare half an hour a couple of Fridays a term, please email pta@halswell.school.nz or contact the tuck shop coordinator Sarah Monro on 0279 244 311.

PTA Quiz Night – Sat 29 August

The PTA quiz night will take place on Saturday 29 August from 7pm. Grab your mates and sign up to gain the title of Halswell School trivia kings or queens.

Teams are of 4-6 people but we're happy to make up a team for you if you’d like to be allocated to a team. Only one team member need fill in the form. Hurry as we only have space for 30 teams.

Cost per person is $10.

Beer, wine and soft drinks will be on sale as well as some snacks and small cheese and cracker platters. Please note that due to alcohol being on sale this event is restricted to those over 18 years of age.

This year we will be running the quiz as a community event rather than as a major fundraiser and this is reflected in the lower ticket price. There will still be prizes for the winning teams and various spot prizes but we will not be going all out to approach businesses in the current climate for prizes. We would of course welcome any offers of donations or sponsorship prizes from the school community and we thank those who have already been in touch. All sponsors or businesses who donate will appear on the School Sponsors page in the About Us section of the school website.

Don't Forget to Order your Entertainment Book!

It's not too late to order your Entertainment Book membership. Memberships expired on the 1 June so don't miss the chance to support your local businesses while at the same time taking advantage of the thousands of incredible savings on dining, activities, travel and shopping that the Entertainment Book offers. 20% of sales goes directly to Halswell School.

Once you have purchased your membership, you will have three months to activate it.

We need you!

We held our PTA AGM last month and it was great to see some new faces.  If you would like to be involved in the school life of your child here are some ways you can help:

- join our PTA and help organise fundraising for our school and plan events throughout the year. Our next meeting is Tuesday 4 August at 7pm in the Staff Lounge.

- volunteer to help with our weekly sausage sizzle or tuckshop. This could be an hour a week or a couple of hours over the course of the term.

- run the Scholastic Book Club.  We run 2-3 issues of this each year and you would be in charge of collating the orders and unpacking the books with a team of helpers. This is only about 2-3 hours a couple of times a year.
