Samoa Update - School Visits

Lisa Dovey —

Over the next few newsletters we will be sharing some information about the different aspects of our trip to Samoa. This week - the schools we will visit.

Whilst in Samoa, our children will be visiting four different schools - three on Upolu and one on Savai'i.

One school that will be very interesting, is a school that was badly affected by the Tsunami in 2009.  The original school was so badly damaged that it has been relocated further up the hillside, to help protect the children should another Tsunami occur.

This school is well off the beaten track, rarely having visitors, so they are very excited to have us visit!

We are greatly looking forward to being able to join in with the daily lessons at all of the schools, and furthering our understanding of what a typical day is like for a child in Samoa.

The girls will also be preparing some activities to share with the Samoan children in return.

Mrs Head and I are hoping that this will be the start of some regular communication between our children and the children we will visit - creating further links with our pacific neighbours.
