Tēnā koutou e te Whānau

Lights, camera, action! Live shows of our school-wide production (Reboot) have commenced this week with matinees taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Our evening shows begin on Thursday 1 July and will run through to the following Tuesday night (6 July).

For those of you who have managed to see one of the matinees, you'll know that Reboot is inspired by the popular Pixar film Inside Out. The Reboot plot revolves around the main character Alex who is confronted with an anxious moment when she is being introduced to her new classmates. With the support of her inner emotions of Sadness, Anger, Fear and Joy, she recalls a variety of life memories that will help her gain the confidence needed to face her anxieties.

I want to take the opportunity to thank all of our students and staff for their efforts in preparing for the live shows. This has been a major focus this term and has been a wonderful vehicle for bringing the Arts alive at our school. In particular, I wish to acknowledge teachers Chris Williams and Anna DeFrancis for their inspiration and organisation in leading this year's production. As I'm sure you can appreciate, bringing together over 660 Years 0-8 students for a series of coordinated performances is no mean feat but Chris and Anna have done a fantastic job.

Last but certainly not least, I want to give a shout out to all of the parents who have helped with costumes and props. I know that this is something that the teachers have been extremely appreciative of and reinforces that our biennial productions are fantastic events for bringing our school community together.

Finally, as this will be the last newsletter of the term, if I don't see you before the end of next week, I hope you have a wonderful holiday break. I look forward to catching up with you when school returns on Monday 26 July.
