Tēnā koutou e te Whānau

Welcome back to the new term. I hope you managed to enjoy some quality time with your families over the holiday break. We have had a great start to Term 3 and we are all looking forward to an action-packed 10 weeks ahead.

On Monday you would have received an email about the mid-year Learning Conferences taking place next week on the following afternoons/evenings:

  • Wednesday 29 July (2.00-6.30pm) and
  • Thursday 30 July (3.15-8pm)

A reminder that conferences are for all children except those in T3 and T4 who will have New Entrant conferences later in the term.

The Learning Conferences will look slightly different this year based on the feedback we received in the 2019 Assessment and Reporting online survey. You will now have the opportunity to book a 15-minute conference slot with your child’s T group teacher; this time is to discuss your child’s progress and achievement. We strongly encourage that the children participate in these discussions. The last 5 minutes of each conference will be reserved for parents to speak one on one with T groups teachers if so desired.

Your child will have the opportunity to share their learning with you in their learning centre before your booked conference time starts so please arrive 15 minutes before your conference begins to allow enough time for this to happen.

A Learning Conference Question Sheet was sent home via your child(ren) on Monday. If it has 'gone missing' at the bottom of their school bag, there was also a WORD version attached to Monday's email that can be sent directly to your child's T group teacher. We would appreciate it if these sheets could be completed and returned to T group teachers by the end of this week. This will give the teachers enough time to review your comments and prepare for the conferences.

To book a learning conference with your child’s T group teacher please follow this link. The code, if needed, is ubqvs. Online bookings will close at 3pm on Friday 24 July. Any bookings after this will need to be made through the Office please.

Early finish on Wednesday

Please note that all classes will finish at 1.30pm on Wednesday 29 July to allow for the conferences to begin at 2pm. We ask that you collect your child(ren) at this time. If you are not in a position to pick-up your child at this earlier time, we will be providing supervision through until 3pm. If you would like your child to remain at school until 3pm, please complete this quick google form by 3pm on Tuesday 28 July.

If you have any questions about the updated process, please ask your child’s T group teacher. If you have any trouble making your booking please contact Heather in the office.

Finally, I would like to extend a warm invitation to all community members to join us for a special mihi whakatau at 9.15am on Friday to help us formally welcome all of the new tamariki and whānau to our school.

Ngā mihi nui
