We had a bunch of Year 7 and 8 students who went and represented Halswell school at the Canterbury Volleyball and Badminton tournament.

Volleyball

The Yr 7/8 volleyball team headed to the Canterbury Indoor Tournament last week and had a great day out. Despite the tournament being so soon after the holidays, the team was dedicated to practising any moment they had in their spare-time, which shows awesome commitment. Throughout the day the students showed positivity and lovely sportsmanship within their own team as well as toward the opposition, representing our school well. The sets within the games were close and although not placing the students showed an improvement of technique throughout the day, with particularly impressive serving techniques! Well done on a fun day out!

Badminton

We had four teams of 3 children head to the Zhu Badminton Centre to compete in the Canterbury Badminton tournament. They had great round-robin games, putting up a good contest against the other schools. We had one team reach the semi-finals, placing 4th overall. All the children showed determination and great sportsmanship throughout the day. Thank you to the parents that stayed and helped out throughout the day.
