Book Week and Book Fair

This week we are celebrating our Book Week, with our Scholastic Book Fair being part of this.  Our Book Fair is now on in our library until 2pm on Friday.  It is open from 8:30-9:00, 1:30-2:00 and 3:00-3:30.  A huge thank you to Jennifer Sevier and Giarne Harrison for helping to run the Book Fair.  I couldn't do it without their help.  Thanks also to everyone who has made a purchase so far.  Every purchase you make helps us to get some great new books for our library.

Our Book Character Dress Up Day is coming this Friday.  Your children are encourage to come dress as one of their favourite book characters to join this celebration of our favourite books. As part of our assembly on Friday morning we will be sharing some fantastic stories with the children and you are very welcome to come along too.

Book donations for school leavers

One of our traditions at Halswell is for the leaving Year 8 students to donate a book to our library.  Each donated book gets a special book plate with the student's name so the children will be remembered long after they leave Halswell.  You can donate a book that is special to you or one that you would like to see in the library, purchase a book from our Book Fair or ask me for a suggestion.  Books of facts, like the Guinness World Records, are always good choices or popular books like the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid or David Walliams book.

Other students who are leaving Halswell School next year are welcome to donate a book also, especially if our library has been a special place for you.
