Tēnā koutou e te whānau

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you had a safe and relaxing break over the holidays. I would especially like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new students and families who have started at Halswell School this week. We also have a New Entrant T group (T3) starting this term. T3 will be taught by Kathryn Hartnell and Jane Watts and will be based in Ahuriri. We look forward to formally welcoming our new whānau at a special mihi whakatau in the hall at 9.15am on Friday.

We have a very exciting term ahead with the focus being on the Performing Arts. This will culminate in our school production (Reboot) that will take place in the last two weeks of this term. Any school-wide production is a major undertaking but particularly so for a school of our size. It is also a wonderful vehicle for bringing the whole school and community together to work towards a truly authentic celebration of learning. For more information on this year's production please see the Reboot article contained in this newsletter.

Finally, the Board recently received a resignation from Susan Dent. Susan is one of our caretakers and has worked at Halswell School for many years. On behalf of the staff and Board, I would like to acknowledge the contribution Susan has given our school throughout her time here and wish her all the very best for the future.

We are currently seeking a part-time caretaker to replace Susan. A significant part of this role will be to maintain and improve our garden areas. If you are interested in this position, please visit the vacancies page on our school website or refer to the Part-time Caretaker/Gardener article in this newsletter.
