Hell Pizza Reading Challenge

Our Pizza Wheels have been delivered and are flying out the door! Here is a reminder of how they work if your child brings one home:

1. Read 7 books to get a free kids pizza from Hell Pizza.

2. For every book your child reads either a parent or teacher needs to sign a segment of the pizza wheel.

3. When your child has 7 signatures on their pizza wheel they bring it to the library and I click it with the star hole punch and stamp it. They can then take this to any Hell Pizza branch to redeem their free pizza.

Children can complete as many pizza wheels as they like between now and 31 January 2022. They can only redeem one pizza per visit (if you have several children with completed pizza wheels to redeem this is fine). Children can come and get a pizza wheel from our library any time (or from any of the Christchurch City Libraries branches)

Scholastic Book Fair - Week 3 of Term 2 

We will hold our first Scholastic Book Fair for the year in Week 3 of Term 2, Monday 17 May - Friday 21 May. This is your chance to come and purchase some books and stationery for your children, while supporting our library at the same time. Every purchase helps us to get new books for our library.

The Book Fair will be open:

Monday - 8:30-9:00am and 3:00-3:30pm

Tuesday - 8:30-9:00am and 3:00-3:30pm

Wednesday - 8:30-9:00am and 3:00-3:30pm

Thursday - 8:30-9:00am and 3:00-3:30pm

Friday - 8:30-9:00am

As well as books, we have stationery to purchase for $2 each and posters for $4.50. 

If any parents would like to help either before school or after school that would be fantastic. You would just need to supervise the students who are collecting cash and EFTPOS. If you can help please email me - zac.mccallum@halswell.school.nz.

Family Children's Book Quiz - Thursday 20 May

On Thursday 20 May, from 6:30-7:30pm we're going to have a Children's Book Quiz. We had one a couple of years ago and people have been asking this to come back. You can enter a team of 4-5, and it could be a family team or friends. There will be 5 or 6 rounds of questions, all relating to children's books, authors, illustrators and characters. There will be drinks and snacks, and book prizes for the top teams.

To enter a team please email me with your name and the number of people on your team. Entries close Monday 17 May.
