Tēnā koutou e te Whānau

Welcome back to the new term. I hope you had a safe and relaxing holiday break. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new children and families who have started this week and Miss Brooke Young, who has commenced teaching in T32.

We have another exciting term ahead with a focus on the Health and Physical Education curriculum. Part of this involves a community consultation about our Health and Physical Education draft programme. It is a Ministry of Education requirement for all schools to consult on their health programmes every two years. You are invited to provide feedback using this Google form. Alternatively, please talk to your child's T group teacher or Team Leader if you would prefer to do this instead of filling in the form. The form will close at 5 pm on Friday 6 August.

Speaking of Health and Physical Education, we are watching with interest the progress of formal Halswell School pupil Grace Prendergast who is competing in both the women's coxless pair and women's eight rowing events at the Tokyo Olympics. We have high hopes that she can bring home a medal for New Zealand. Good luck Grace!

Mid-year Learning Conferences will be held on Wednesday and Thursday next week. This is a great opportunity for you to meet with your child(ren)'s T group teacher to discuss their progress and achievement. If you haven't already booked a Learning Conference please see the article in this newsletter for instructions. Additional information about the conferences (including a pre-conference form) was shared with you on Monday via team newsletters.

A reminder that normal classes will cease at 1.30 pm on Wednesday 4 August. We appreciate you making arrangements to collect your children at this time. If this is not possible, children will be supervised until 3 pm in their Learning Centres. If you would like your children to be supervised, please complete this form by 3 pm on Monday 2 August.

Ngā mihi nui
