Seaweek Poetry Competition
A group of Huritini students were very excited to gain second place for their poem, 'Our Oceans'.
On Wednesday 27 March, a poetry event and prize-giving for the Seaweek Poetry Competition was held at Tūranga Central Library. Two representatives from T10, Cassiel and Maija, went to Tūranga to share the poem and accept a special prize.
The Years 0-4 section of the competition, which was judged by writer Heather McQuillan from the School for Young Writers, had to be a collective acrostic poem for 'Our Oceans'. Here is our poem:
Our Oceans
Octopus
Up in the ocean
Rubbish in the ocean
On and off the waves
Crab
End of the ocean
Antarctica is cold
Noise in the water
Seaweed floating
The $40 book voucher we received will be used for a book donation to our school library.
