Tracey Mora & Cathie Zelas —

Tēnā koutou e te Whānau

We hope you all had an enjoyable King’s Birthday weekend. As we were writing this week’s pānui, we couldn’t help but feel excited about how well our students are embedding our school vision, Learning to Thrive. We hope you feel it too.

Anticipation is building as students across the school are preparing to showcase their learning to the community in Weeks 9 and 10. Our Years 5 - 8 production, ‘Around the World in 8 Folktales’ will perform in the School Stadium on June 20, 21 and 22, beginning at 7pm.  Tickets are now on sale outside the library before and after school each day. Be quick as you won’t want to miss out!

Taking a peek into the Years 0 - 4 team, you can see creativity blooming as students prepare for their Wearable Arts Showcase. This is being held in the School Stadium on Tuesday 27June at 2pm. Pop this date into your diary!

Other important dates to note

Just a reminder as teachers are preparing Mid Year Reports, that access to your child’s learning pages on Hero will be turned off on Monday 12 June. You will be able to view your child’s final reports on Hero on Wednesday 19 July. There will be a chance to discuss your child’s progress and achievement with their teacher at our Mid Year Learning Conferences scheduled for 26 and 27 July.

2023 New Zealand Book Awards

The finalists for 2023 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults were announced recently and this year the promotional material features three of our keen readers. Look out for a poster featuring Phoebe, Mila and Madhav at a bookshop near you!

Finally, a huge congratulations to Daisy N, Indi H-U, Isla C, Jacob S and Denver L, our students who placed at the recent Zone Cross Country event and made it into the Canterbury Cross Country, which takes place on Wednesday 21 June. Kā tino pai!

Te Kura o te Tauawa Halswell School is definitely a place to Learn to Thrive!
