Tēnā koutou e te whānau
As we prepare to say farewell to winter at the end of the week, it's great to see our children participating in so many activities and events over the past fortnight. These have included rugby and netball zone sports, trips to the Quarry, Cantamaths competition, swimming lessons, ICAS exams, Pioneer basketball and visits from the Chirstcuruch Museum Outreach Programme. The range of extra-curricular opportunities offered wouldn't be possible without the extra efforts of our teachers and, in several cases, the support from parent helpers. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these learning experiences.
This week, we also had a visit from members of the Vanuatu Canterbury Association, who shared cultural elements, including food, traditions and the Bislama language. On Saturday, 9 September, Tracey Mora and I will be travelling to Vanuatu with a group of 21 Years 7&8 students plus three parent helpers for one week. While we are there, we will be visiting three schools.
The Student Council was delighted to raise close to $900 as part of the Vanuatu non-uniform day in Week 5. These funds will be used to purchase new sports equipment and stationery for the schools we will be visiting. Thank you to everyone who supporting this fundraising effort.
