Laugh Out Loud Story Time

Bring the whole family along to our school library on Wednesday 1 July, from 6:30-7:00pm to enjoy some silly stories read by Mr McCallum.  You can even come in your pyjamas if you want to!  Please RSVP to zac.mccallum@halswell.school.nz by Tuesday 30 June.

Scholastic Book Club closes today

Today is the last day to get Scholastic Book Club orders in. It usually takes about 2 weeks for the orders to arrive at school and these will be delivered to the children in their learning centres. All orders help us to get more new books for our library so thank you to everyone who has ordered some books.

As we are not having a mid-year Scholastic Book Fair there will be two chances to purchase books from the Scholastic Book Club in Term 3.

Girls Night and Boys Night

I’ve spent some time considering my Girls Night at the Library and Boys Night in the Library. These have previously been separate family events at our library but to ensure that these events are inclusive of all children within the school all library events will be open to everyone. Throughout the year we will have several family nights which will give children and parents a chance to meet local authors and illustrators.

In Week Two of Term 3, we have Picture Book Magic with Juliette MacIver. Juliette is the creator of Marmaduke Duck and the Marmalade Jam, Queen Alice’s Palaces and That’s Not a Hippopotamus! It’s going to be a fun night and there will be more info in the next newsletter.
