Canterbury Cross Country

Natasha Fraser —

On Wednesday the 23rd of June at the Halswell Quarry, five of our senior students represented Halswell School and the Lincoln Zone at the Canterbury Primary Schools' Cross Country. Below is a report written by one of the competitors.

We lined up with the rest of the kids in our Zone and got our race numbers. There were so many other kids there to race. READY, SET, BANG! We were off. Some of the other girls had sprinted up ahead as we ran in the middle of the pack. It was like we were in a herd of elephants. You couldn't pass anyone and couldn't stop running because you would've gotten trampled or tripped over. It was so muddy on the course after all of the rain. The grass felt like a mud pool. After the race, we were so relieved that it was over. Overall it was a great experience to represent our school and Zone!
