At the end of last term our Years 7/8 extension writing group wrote Haiku Poems to enter in the New Zealand Poetry Society competition. There were 629 entries in the Junior section. 24 of the poems entered were recognised with Noah D in year 7 receiving a Commended for his poem Waves. Congratulations to all of the Halswell children who entered and to Noah for this achievement.

The glassy sea swells

Like a mountain it rises

Crashes with a boom.
