Pets Week

We had a fantastic Pets Week in the library last week!  There were some great story entries for the writing competition and we had a whole wall of your adorable pet photos (check out the photo above).  

This week we're celebrating Baby-sitter's Club Week for all of our fans of the series and there are two competitions that you can enter.  Next week it's Walliams Week where we'll be celebrating David Walliams' fantastic books and there will also be some Football World Cup competitions to enter.

2018 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults 

The finalists in the 2018 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults were announced recently.  These are the best New Zealand books for children from the past year.  There are some really great books included in the awards this year and we have many of these in the library for the children to borrow.

There is a great free activity booklet on the awards website that you can print if you are looking for an activity for your children, especially in the upcoming school holidays.  Here is the link if you are interested.

Pocket Money Book Sale

Our Pocket Money Book Sale is coming up in the last week of term, from Monday 2-Wednesday 4 July.  There will be a selection of new books for sale, from picture books and activity books through to novels, all priced between $1-$10.  Our school library benefits from all sales so if you want to support us please come and check it out.  It will be open 8:30-9:00, 1:30-2:00 and 3:00-3:30.   On Wednesday the Book Sale will be on from 2:00-3:30, so if you're coming to school for the learning celebrations feel free to come and have a look at the Book Sale too.
