40 Hour Famine 2018

Student Council —

Find out what we're doing across the school to raise money for the Children of South Sudan.

8-10 June 2018

This year we are raising money for the children from South Sudan. The money we raise this year will be used to support World Vision programming in Northern Uganda, for the refugees from South Sudan to bring life saving essentials, for example nutritious food and clean water, as well as a place to live, education and hope for a better future.

Thousands of young lives have been affected by conflict, drought and and famine in South Sudan

Fill your Sock Challenge

For our first 40 Hour Famine house challenge each morning this week there are four socks hung up on the bell tower. Whichever house colour you are in, you will put however many coins you desire into your house sock. The house with the heaviest sock wins and will earn 50 house points!!! The second place house will earn 25 house points.

Next Week - Trade Your Lunch

In Week 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be doing an activity called ‘Trade Your Lunch!’ This is a chance for you to develop an empathy with the children, worldwide, who are experiencing real hardship and live a life that is extremely challenging. We are asking that you go without lunch for one day. This is purely by choice.

Bring in a gold coin and get a Barley Sugar in return, with money raised going towards the 40 Hour Famine and house participation will earn points for the 40 hour Famine House Challenge.

Please also bring in a can/packet of food that will go to a local food drive. There are many families locally that are also struggling and we want to be able to support them too.

Permission slips

All children are able to take part in the 40 Hour Famine challenges. Teachers have copies of the permission slips. Only those students who return their slips will be given the official booklets for fundraising. The first 50 permission slips returned will each earn 5 points towards their house.
