Fabulous Haiku Poems - Competition Entries

Rob Naysmith —

Over the last week, the Years 7&8 extension writing group have been writing Haiku to submit in the New Zealand Poetry Society competition. Here are some examples of what they have written.

Hope - Barbara
In the stormy cold
An oasis stands alone
Where sunlight falls through

Midnight - Noah D
The full moon shines bright
The sky, a blanket of stars
I watch it greet me

Raindrop - Aimee
Inky clouds gather
Lightning dance across the sky
Splash! The first raindrop

Summer - Austin
Bathed in warm sunlight
The soft grass beneath my toes
All is beautiful

Shadows - Lucas
The shadows linger
Creeping, stalking, watching you
Always there, shadows.

Tree outside the window - Samuel
Blooming its lime leaves
Red apples on its branches
Old, but full of life

The Game Winning Shot - Jack M
My heart was pounding
The ball flew out of my hand
Swish, joy streamed through me

Happiness of a goal - George W
Adrenaline Rushed
Silence... Goal! Top right corner
Delight filled the air

Butterfly - Olivia
Delicate wings sway
As the glorious sun set
Grateful for its life

A Bee - Sophie S
A beautiful bee
Dancing around the flowers
Every move graceful
