Book Week

We're really excited to be celebrating Book Week again in Week 4.  We have lots of cool things planned, from book readings to Book Fair and a couple of exciting competitions for kids and parents.  Our Book Character Dress Up Day is on Friday 9 November and we're looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful characters that the kids come dressed as.  Costumes don't need to be extravagant - something as simple as a fairy, pirate, princess, superhero, or animal of any sort is great because there are so many of them in stories.

Halswell's Favourite Picture Book

As part of Book Week I want to reveal our favourite picture book.  Parents and children can vote for your favourite picture book (one vote per person) and the top 5 books will be revealed in our Book Week assembly.  To vote click here - voting form.

Scholastic Book Fair

As part of our Book Week celebrations in Week 4 we have our Scholastic Book Fair back again. As always there will be a great selection of all sorts of books, from colouring and crafty books to picture books and your favourite series.  The Book Fair will be open at these times:

Monday 5 November: 8:30-9:00, 1:30-2:00 and 3:00-3:30

Tuesday 6 November: 8:30-9:00, 1:30-2:00 and 3:00-3:30

Wednesday 7 November: 8:30-9:00, 1:30-2:00 and 3:00-3:30

Thursday 8 November: 8:30-9:00, 1:30-2:00 and 3:00-3:30

Friday 9 November: 8:30-9:00 and 1:30-2:00 (not open after school on Friday)

Boys Night at the Library

On Wednesday 7 November, from 7-8pm we are having our Boys Night at the Library.  This is the boys' chance to come and hang out in the library with their dads, grandads, or uncles to hear about some great books, get inspired by amazing authors and win some cool prizes.  For more information check out the poster attached.  Please RSVP by Monday 5 November.

Parenting Library

As part of our school library collection we have a Parenting Library.  This was set up last year with help from our wonderful PTA.  If you are looking for some help with a tricky parenting situation, want to help your children with their reading or want to keep them safe online come and check it out.  If you pop in before school our friendly student librarians can show you where the books are.  If you want to borrow a book please just write your details on the clipboard that is on the shelf.  You can borrow the books for as long as you need them.

Hells Pizza Wheels

There is still time for children to complete their Hells Pizza Reading Challenge Wheels.  We have plenty of wheels left in the library too.  Children just need to read 7 books to qualify for a free small pizza.  Parents or teachers can sign each section of the pizza wheel to prove children have read the books and when the wheel is all signed I will click and stamp it, ready for a free pizza.  Pizza wheels can be redeemed right up until 4 December.  If you have any questions about these please come and see me or flick me an email.
