Hell Pizza Reading Challenge

The Hell Pizza Wheel reading promotion is back for another year. Children can come and get a pizza wheel from our library any time (or from any of the Christchurch City Libraries branches). Here is how it works:

1. Read 7 books to get a free kids pizza from Hell Pizza.

2. For every book your child reads either a parent or teacher needs to sign a segment of the pizza wheel.

3. When your child has 7 signatures on their pizza wheel they bring it to the library and I click it with a special hole punch. They can then take this to any Hell Pizza branch to redeem their free pizza.

Children can complete as many pizza wheels as they like between now and 31 January 2024. They can only redeem one pizza per visit (if you have several children with completed pizza wheels to redeem this is fine).

Book Bingo

You may have seen your children bringing home a Book Bingo sheet. These are reading challenges that I run in the library, designed to get the children reading a wide range of books. There are 3 levels - Bronze, Silver, and Gold. They get progressively harder and should take at least a couple of weeks to complete. The Bronze level is ideal for Years 1-4 as the challenges include things like reading in your pyjamas and reading to a stuffed toy or pet. When children have completed the challenge sheet and crossed each one off, they return it to me in the library and receive a certificate and a badge.  There is also an alternative to the Bingo sheet, which just requires children to read a certain number of pages to complete the challenge.

Your children may need help completing some of the challenges, either from you or me. I have updated these sheets so that a parent needs to sign them on the back for the Silver and Gold levels.
