End of Term I

BRUCE TOPHAM —

Many thanks to all of those who have contributed so much to your children’s ‘learnings’.

Our teachers get up each morning eager to help your children be the best they can, and in my opinion they do a fabulous job; as do our support team members who work in each Learning Centres, often spending their days with the children who find connecting to their learning the most challenging. Please take time to say thanks.

My personal thanks to all the parents who have willingly given their time to help in and around school, those doing crossing duty in the morning, in-class help, supporting PTA activities and on trips and camps. We appreciate all of your contributions.

We are very privileged to be able to call Sophie Pascoe and Celyn Edwards former pupils. Both of them are amazing examples of gaining resilience from tragedy and accepted the life changing challenges that were caused and making them into positives. As a pupil Sophie is remembered by staff as a girl who gave everything ago including beating many of her mates in the school cross country. Celyn similarly was a vital and trusted member of our school rugby teams that he played for. Their determination to excel has been well rewarded at the Commonwealth Games where Sophie has won two gold medals and Celyn was 4th, missing a bronze by a touch, but taking nine seconds of his previous best time. We are so proud of both of them.

Hopefully you have been able to watch some of the games with your children. The array of sports offers exposure to many little known sports, some of which may spark an interest in your children. Children who are into competitive sport are generally not into trouble during their teen years. The games present you with an opportunity to widen the choice.
