Tēnā koutou e te Whānau

We are very excited to be opening the new Ōrongomai nature playground early next week. This is the last major project funded as part of the Ministry of Education's School Investment Programme (SIP). This programme has seen over $400,000 invested in special property projects around our school. The SIP scope of works has included; new storage areas, upgrades to our lighting and sound system, relocation of the bike/scooter area, cages for the outdoor heat pump units, a play pod, retaining wall for the bund, tree planting, replacement of drinking fountains, landscaping and a new water play feature for Huritini.

It is fitting that the last SIP project should be the nature playground. This idea was driven by the children following an inquiry the Ōrongomai Team completed last year. Once the children formulated their ideas, they worked with a playground designer from OuterSpace Landscapes to finalise the plan. We are delighted with the final product, and I know the children are super excited about seeing their ideas come to fruition.

Check out the sneak peek above to see why the children are so excited!
